Local residents tried to defend Egypt's mosque

cairo - Armed residents have Friday tried to thwart the attackers who attacked a mosque in the Egyptian Bir-al-Abed. The extremists finally fled when security forces arrived, said a senior officer in the security services.
The source, who wanted to remain anonymous, said that the attackers drove to the house of prayer in four off-road vehicles. There they let go off explosively. They also opened fire on believers. This happened during the generally well-attended Friday prayer.
According to state television, there were at least 155 deaths, while the official news agency is holding 115 deaths and 120 deaths for the time being.
