- Liverpool secures the transfer of striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt in a £69m deal with potential add-ons, beating rivals Manchester United and Newcastle United for the French forward.

Liverpool Completes Signing of Hugo Ekitike

Liverpool has finalized the signing of 23-year-old striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. Ekitike joins Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, and Milos Kerkez as part of Arne Slot's summer signings at Anfield.

Details of the Deal

The agreement involves a £69 million ($92.8 million) fee with potential add-ons of £10 million ($13.4 million), totaling a possible £79 million ($91 million) for the France under-21 forward.

Rival Interest and Performance

Ekitike attracted interest from Manchester United and Newcastle United after an impressive season in the Bundesliga, scoring 15 goals and providing eight assists in 33 games. He notably helped Frankfurt reach the Europa League quarterfinals, where they were eliminated by Tottenham Hotspur.

Ekitike's powerful strike against Tottenham Hotspur in the first leg was a standout moment in the competition.

Transfer Clause

Frankfurt is obligated to pay Paris Saint-Germain 20% of the transfer value due to a clause in Ekitike's contract from his move from PSG to Frankfurt in 2024.

ESPN's Julien Laurens and Beth Lindop contributed to this report.
