halifax - A Canadian court sentenced a woman to life imprisonment because she was planning a massacre in a shopping mall. The American Lindsay Souvannarath and an accomplice wanted to open fire in Halifax on Valentine's Day in 2015, report the Canadian CBC News.

The police foiled the plan after an anonymous tip had arrived. The woman's henchman shot herself when the police surrounded his home. The authorities arrested Souvannarath at the airport. The duo would have been inspired by the massacre at American Columbine High School.

The judge concluded that Souvannarath has not repented and is a danger to society. He also took into account the moment when the woman confessed. She did so in 2017, after discovering that conversations she had conducted through social media could serve as proof.

A third party involved, who would have encouraged the plan, got ten years in prison. Souvannarath (26) is eligible for early release after ten years.
