moscow - Ukrainian pilot Nadezhda Savtsjenko convicted of murder by Russia to 22 years in prison, is not exchanged for two Russian prisoners in Ukraine. The Kremlin has a trade with Kiev called off, as the Ministry of Justice has informed Moscow Tuesday.

The Russian Justice Minister Alexander Konovalov wants to go exclusively Savtsjenko as she sits out the rest of her sentence in Ukraine. According to The Moscow Times Russia does not invent exchange behind the scenes, but only through official agreements trade-offs prisoners.

A court in Rostov helicopter pilot sentenced for the murder of two Russian journalists in eastern Ukraine in 2014. She was taken by pro-Russian rebel prisoners and handed over to the Russians. Savtsjenko says she had been arrested before the murder was committed. Ukraine dubbed the trial as a sham and it was supported by the European Union and the United States.
