pristina - Kosovo arrested six Turkish nationals and extradited them to Turkey. According to the Turkish government, the six have links with the movement of the spiritual Fethullah Gülen, who would be behind the failed coup attempt of summer 2016.

The six worked for schools that were financed by the Gülen movement. Turkey regards the movement as a terrorist organization. According to the Turkish state press agency Anadolu, the men were engaged in the recruitment of new members in the Balkans and the raising of funds. They would also have helped Gülen supporters escape from Turkey.

Turkey is a major investor in Kosovo. According to a high Kosovo official, the Turkish government would have put great pressure on the poverty-stricken Balkan country to act against the Gülen schools.
