geneva - Klaus Schwab resigns as World Economic Forum supervisory board chairman after 55 years, facing conspiracy theories. Peter Brabeck-Letmathe appointed as interim chairman.

Klaus Schwab Resigns as World Economic Forum Chairman

Klaus Schwab, the long-time face of the World Economic Forum (WEF), has announced his immediate resignation as the chairman and member of the Board of Trustees at the WEF. Schwab, who founded the WEF in 1971, is stepping down at the age of 88, with Vice Chairman Peter Brabeck-Letmathe taking over temporarily.

Conspiracy Theories and Controversy

Throughout his 55-year leadership at the WEF, Schwab and the organization have been the subject of various conspiracy theories. Critics have accused him of promoting a global elite agenda, with allegations ranging from plans for enslavement to population control. Last year, a black American woman filed a lawsuit against the WEF and Schwab for discrimination.

Despite the controversies, the WEF annual summit in Davos has been a gathering of world leaders, heads of state, ministers, bankers, and top executives from the international business community.

Legacy and Succession

The WEF praised Schwab's exceptional contributions to the organization. A search committee will now be tasked with finding a permanent replacement for Schwab, who had previously stepped down as the executive chairman last year.

Reports of Schwab's resignation surfaced a few weeks ago, with the Financial Times citing a letter to board members as one of the sources. Schwab's last year at the helm was marked by the term 'The Great Reset,' coined in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
