cyprus - KKTC reacts to the arms sales approval from US President Biden to the Greek Cypriot administration, condemning it as supporting war-mongering.

US Arms Sales Approval to Greek Cypriots Sparks Tensions

As the US President Joe Biden approved three agreements involving direct arms sales, grants, and training for the Greek Cypriot administration, tensions rise in the region. The first agreement allows Greek Cypriots access to American weaponry, the second provides access to surplus defense equipment, while the third involves training Greek Cypriot forces by the US military. KKTC Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu voiced strong opposition, accusing the US of supporting war-mongering by the Greek Cypriot administration. Ertuğruloğlu reaffirmed the commitment to take all necessary steps to protect the security of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and its people.

Condemnation from Turkey

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning the approval of arms sales, urging the upcoming US administration to reverse this decision made by the current President.
