Kim Jong-un's Sister Warns South Korea of 'Terrible Disaster'

south korea - Kim Jong-un's sister, Kim Yo-jong, has warned South Korea of a 'terrible disaster' if Seoul sends drones to North Korea again.

Tensions have been running high on the Korean peninsula for some time. Last week, the North Korean general staff announced the interruption of all road and rail connections with South Korea and the reinforcement of the areas on the North Korean side with 'strong defense structures'. The South Korean military claims to have knowledge that the North Koreans have been planting tens of thousands of landmines in the border area in recent months.

South Korea has found GPS trackers in some of the balloons used by North Korea to send waste to the neighboring country, reports the South Korean news agency Yonhap. North Korean authorities may be trying to collect information to be more precise in sending the balloons.

The North Korean dictatorship has already sent about 6,000 of these balloons to the democratically governed neighboring country this year, according to South Korean military forces. This has caused significant disruption there. The balloons with trash are interfering with air traffic and have landed on buildings, vehicles, and even at the presidential palace.

North Korea portrays sending the balloons as a response to activists and defectors who have sent propaganda balloons from South Korea across the border. South Korea estimates that the balloon operation has cost North Koreans 600 million won (about 406,000 euros).

During a meeting of his Workers' Party late last year, Kim characterized the relations between the two Korean countries as those of two warring states. He also called on South Korea to be identified as the 'biggest enemy'.
