Kim Jong-un speaks about dialogue with the US

World April 10, 2018 10:30

seoul/beijing - The North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un talked openly about planned summits with leaders from South Korea and the United States for the first time.

Kim said at a meeting of the political office of his Korean Workers' Party (WPK) that he 'made an in-depth analysis' of the commendable Korean relations. He said so in the run-up to the Korean summit on 27 April. And he also thought about the prospect of a dialogue with the US, according to the state press agency KCNA.

It was the first time since early 2015 that the political office of the WPK was meeting. The summit of Kim with the South Korean president Moon Jae-in will be the third of its kind in April. In 2000, South Korean president Kim Dae-jung and then-dictator Kim Jong-il (1941-2011) met in Pyongyang, the capital of the north.

The second summit in 2007 was also in Pyongyang. Then Kim Jong-il received the South Korean president Roh Moo-hyun. The third summit will soon be at the border in Panmunjom.
