Kidnapped Mexican footballer freed

- The 26 year old Mexican footballer Alan Pulido which was taken after a party in the capital of the state of Tamaulipas, Cuidad Victoria by armed strangers, was freed after he could call the police themselves.

According to local authorities Pulido hit one of his captors then grab a phone. That he could call the police, who were quickly on the spot as a unit nearby was patrolling. After his liberation Pulido research was taken to a hospital. According to Mexican media, he's fine. The police suspect were involved at least four kidnappers. One of them has been arrested.

Pulido plays for Greek club Olympiakos. He was in 2014 part of the selection of Mexico at the World Cup in Brazil, but then did not play a single game.

The state of Tamaulipas, where Pulido disappeared, borders the US state of Texas and is known as an area with a lot of violence.
