Just across the border threatens dijkdoorbraak

- Just over the border in Germany is threatening a dike at the river to break Issel. If the dam collapses, the A3 motorway, in the extension of the Dutch A12 flooded and there is no traffic between Arnhem and Oberhausen.

We are working with might and main to repair a dike near the village Hamminkeln, about 40 kilometers from the Dutch border near Zevenaar. There's a Thursday afternoon embankment broken and water flows under more towards the A3.

If efforts fail to control the water, the A3 motorway is connecting include Arnhem, Oberhausen and the Ruhr, underwater. The website WAZ (Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung) reported that the authorities had beaten 'a disaster alarm' over the levee breach.
