south korea - After a tragic airplane accident involving a Jeju Air flight, the same airline faced another scare as a second plane had to return to the airport due to the same mechanical issue.

After the accident of a Jeju Air flight that claimed 179 lives, another airplane belonging to the same airline had to return to the airport due to the same mechanical issue to prevent a similar tragedy as reported by Yonhap news agency.

The Jeju Air flight, with the same model as the one involved in the fatal accident, took off from Gimpo International Airport at 6:37 am but had to land back at the same airport due to landing gear problems at 7:25 am.

Officials at Jeju Air informed the 161 passengers onboard about the mechanical issue caused by landing gear problems.

A replacement plane was arranged by Jeju Air to continue the journey, but 21 passengers opted not to board the alternate aircraft due to safety concerns.

Following the previous day's tragedy, Jeju Air officials denied any maintenance negligence as the cause of the accident, stating that all maintenance procedures were carried out on time and as per schedule.

In the previous accident in Muan city of South Korea, 179 people lost their lives when a Jeju Air passenger flight lost control during landing due to landing gear issues. Authorities confirmed that the accident was caused by a malfunction in the landing gear systems.
