Global Transfers Break $2 Billion Mark

FIFA data reveals that the January transfer window in men's football set a new record with over $2 billion spent. Premier League champions Manchester City accounted for 10% of this total, splurging $223m on four new players: Omar Marmoush, Nico González, Abdukodir Khusanov, and Vitor Reis.

Premier League Reigns Supreme

Manchester City's signings contributed to the Premier League's position as the highest-spending league, with a total outlay of $621.6m. Other top spending leagues included Germany, Italy, France, and Saudi Arabia.

Key Statistics

  • France topped the list for receiving the highest transfer fees, followed by Germany, England, Portugal, and Italy.
  • Brazil led in incoming transfers, followed by Argentina, Portugal, Spain, and England.
  • Argentina had the most outgoing transfers, with Brazil, England, the United States, and Portugal following suit.

A total of 5,863 transfers were completed, marking a 19.1% increase from the previous year. The $2.35bn spent in the window represented a significant rise from previous years, with Jhon Duran's $79.9m move being the biggest deal. Additionally, women's football saw record-breaking transfers, with England leading in spending and incoming transfers.
