abidjan - The authorities in Côte d'Ivoire have seized 600 pounds of elephants' tusks. They had an estimated value of more than 360,000 euros.

The authorities did the find during a multi-day campaign against a large smuggling network. They intercept not only tusks, but also about 600 kilos of scales of pangolins. They were worth almost 281,000 euros on the black market.

The head of the anti-smuggling unit in the country said that the contraband was destined for destinations in Asia. Six suspects have been arrested. The ivory would have come from various countries such as Gabon, Nigeria, Mozambique and Uganda.
