bergamo, italy - Speleologist Ottavia Piana, aged 32, was rescued last night around 3:00 am from a cave in Bergamo, Italy, where she had been trapped at a depth of 600 meters since Saturday after a fall. The woman suffered injuries to her spine, ribs, knee, and face.

The 32-year-old speleologist Ottavia Piana was rescued in the early hours of the morning from a cave in Bergamo, Italy, after being trapped since Saturday following a fall from 600 meters depth.

She sustained injuries to her spine, ribs, knee, and face. She was immediately airlifted to the Bergamo hospital for treatment. Ottavia had been gradually brought closer to the surface over the past few days. She emerged on a stretcher after being transported through the narrow cave. The cave has high humidity and a temperature of around six degrees Celsius.

The rescue operation was complicated due to large sections of the cave that have not been mapped.

In the summer of 2023, the woman was also trapped in the same cave, and it took several days before she was rescued.
