rome - Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is celebrating her two-year anniversary in power amidst scandals involving ministers and a controversial migration deal. Will she follow in the footsteps of Silvio Berlusconi?

Italy is known for having short-lived governments, with an average duration of one and a half years. Prime Minister Meloni's administration is already the seventh longest-lasting. If she manages to complete the five-year term, she will be only the second after Berlusconi to do so.

In her two years in office, Meloni claims to have revitalized Italy's international presence, boosted economic growth and employment, and achieved historical records in job creation, particularly for women. Italy is also leading the G7 summit this year.

However, scandals have marred her tenure, with a Culture Minister forced to resign over a scandal involving his mistress and a Tourism Minister facing accusations of financial manipulation. Vice Prime Minister Salvini is also facing a six-year sentence for his role in blocking illegal immigrants from entering Italy in 2019.

One of Meloni's achievements is a migration deal with Albania to divert migrants aiming for Southern Italy to reception centers in Albania. However, recent legal challenges have raised doubts about the effectiveness and cost of the agreement, leading to tensions between Meloni's government and the left-leaning judiciary.

Despite internal and external challenges, political analyst Vera Capperucci notes that the ruling coalition remains stable, with Meloni steering her party towards a more EU-friendly stance. Italy has also maintained its partnership with NATO under her leadership.

While facing periodic clashes with the judiciary, Meloni's government is predicted to remain stable. Capperucci highlights the importance of maintaining a separation of powers, even during critical moments like these.
