Israeli Hostages Released Only to Learn Loved Ones Were Killed by Hamas

Israeli hostages, Eli Sharabi and Or Levy, freed by Hamas were devastated to discover their families were killed during the attack on October 7, 2023. Sharabi's wife and daughters were among the casualties of the Hamas-led assault in South Israel, but he was kept in the dark during his captivity.

During the emotional reunion, Sharabi's family expressed both joy for his return and sorrow for the loss of Lianne, Noiya, and Yahel. Levy, on the other hand, suspected his wife's death but only learned the truth after his release. Both hostages endured hardships during their captivity, with visible physical tolls.

The release of the hostages came as part of the initial phase of the ceasefire agreement, aiming to free a total of 33 Israeli captives. Despite the recent exchange, Hamas and its allies still hold 73 individuals captive, prompting pleas from families of other victims like Hersh Goldberg-Polin, who was tragically murdered by Hamas militants in Gaza.
