Israel says goodbye to Shimon Peres

- Israel on Thursday began to say goodbye to Shimon Peres. The former president lies in state in the Israeli parliament building. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and current president Reuven Rivlin Thursday laid a wreath. Even opposition leader Isaac Herzog and Parliament Speaker Yuli Edelstein were the Knesset Peres to pay their last respects.

Peres ordered Friday to the ground and dozens of government leaders will attend the ceremony. Among others, US President Barack Obama flies for the service to Israel. Former President Bill Clinton Thursday already arrived and Thursday brings a visit to the Knesset. Friday, he lives in the service, also on behalf of his wife Hillary.

Bill Clinton was involved as president in the nineties at the conclusion of the Oslo Accords. The peace agreement got Peres, the then Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat the Nobel Peace Prize.
