iran - A woman in Iran was arrested after walking the streets in her underwear, resulting in a severe and bloody arrest. She is the latest victim of the strict clothing policy in the country.

An Iranian woman, identified as Ahoo Daryaei, a student at Azad University in Tehran, was detained for not wearing a headscarf, which is mandatory for women and girls over 9 years old in Iran when in public spaces. Refusing to comply, the situation escalated as security guards physically confronted her.

Witnesses described a violent scene where the woman was aggressively handled by security guards, leading to injuries. She was seen walking in her underwear on campus before being forcibly taken into a car by authorities. It was reported that she sustained severe head trauma during the arrest.

Following the incident, the woman was taken to a police station and later admitted to a psychiatric facility due to reported stress and psychological disorders, though these claims remain unconfirmed. The public has turned her act of defiance into a symbol of resistance against oppressive clothing regulations in Iran.

Despite ongoing protests against the strict dress codes in the country, such as the case of Viva Movahed in 2017 and Masha Amini in 2022, Iran shows no signs of easing its policies. Activists and international organizations continue to advocate for the release of those detained for opposing these regulations.

While the Iranian government maintains a firm grip on enforcing conservative clothing rules, there remains hope among activists that the future of Iran will be shaped by empowered and liberated women.
