iran - Prominent Iranian singer Parastoo Ahmadi and two of her band members have been arrested after the singer performed without a headscarf, defying the strict rules of the Islamist regime in the country.

Parastoo Ahmadi, a popular Iranian singer, was arrested along with two of her band members after she performed without wearing a headscarf, which goes against the strict regulations of the Islamic regime in Iran. The singer's performance, in which she wore a dress without a headscarf, was recorded and shared on YouTube.

According to the singer's lawyer, Milad Panahipur, she was detained by Iranian authorities in the northern part of the country.

Two members of her band were also arrested at their music studio in Tehran. The lawyer informed the news portal Emtedad that he has no information about their whereabouts and they seem to be cut off from the outside world.

Parastoo Ahmadi has been praised both domestically and internationally for her courageous act, which challenges the strict Iranian interpretation of Islamic law and the dress code for women.
