the hague - Jean-Pierre Bemba, the former Congolese vice president, may leave the prison and join his family in Belgium. The International Criminal Court ICC in The Hague has determined this on Tuesday. The judges spoke to Bemba last week on appeal.
Bemba was sentenced in 2016 to a prison sentence of eighteen years for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Soldiers under his command would have been guilty of murder and rape in the Central African Republic. The former warlord had been imprisoned since 2008.
