The recent conflict surge follows a deadly attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, on February 22, where heavily armed assailants killed 25 Indian civilians and one Nepalese. India attributed the attack to Pakistan and retaliated with Operation Sindoor, targeting sites in Pakistan.

India and Pakistan, both nuclear-armed states, have a history of conflict over the disputed Kashmir region, with two previous wars fought over the territory. The current situation remains tense, with airports closed and flight routes suspended in both countries.
