Illegal Money Transfer Scheme Uncovered in Antalya

In a recent operation in Antalya, authorities have arrested 17 suspects involved in an illegal money transfer scheme, where a kuyumcu and currency exchange office owner and employees were found to be taking a 5% commission on transfers. The suspects were identified to have used a system called 'Hawala' for the illegal transfers.

The investigation revealed that individuals, both domestic and foreign, would visit the kuyumcu and currency exchange offices operated by K.A., A.K., and D.C. to specify the amount they wanted to transfer. The transfers were carried out using the 'Hawala' method, where individuals would provide photo evidence of money with encrypted documents or serial numbers, along with photographs of the sender and receiver.

Following extensive surveillance and analysis of bank records, it was discovered that the suspects had transferred approximately 20 billion TL through illegal means, earning a 5% commission on each transaction. The suspects were found to have acquired numerous assets, including real estate and securities, through these illicit activities.
