Ikea's Swedish meatballs are Turkish

stockholm - The 'Swedish meatballs' from Ikea, among others, appear to come from Turkey.

Köttbullar is widely known as the national court of Sweden. But in reality it is based on the recipe that King Charles XII brought home from Turkey in the beginning of the 18th century.

'And those are the facts,' reports Sweden's official Twitter account.

Turks have reacted directly to this 'confession' and point out that there is more 'stolen' from the country.

King Karel lived for a while in Bender (Moldavia and then Turkish territory) after he had lost a war against the Russians in 1709. He ruled from 1697 to 1718. In 1714 the king returned to Sweden.
