washington - German Shepherd Hurricane, the most decorated animal in American history, has passed away after protecting the former President Obama from an intruder.

Hurricane, the American Hero

German Shepherd Hurricane, the most decorated animal in American history, has passed away. Hurricane became a national hero in 2014 when an intruder broke into the White House while former President Barack Obama was inside. Hurricane bravely confronted the intruder, sustaining serious injuries in the process, but successfully protected the president.

Retired secret service agent Marshall Mirarchi, Hurricane's owner, vividly recalls the heroic act: "It happened when the president and his family were behind the front door and someone jumped over two fences. He (Hurricane) went into survival mode, something I had never seen in a dog before."

Hurricane thoroughly enjoyed his duties at the White House, patrolling the grounds with enthusiasm. Mirarchi shared, "We will never forget the look on his face when he stopped the intruder. It was the proudest moment of his life."

After retiring in 2015, Hurricane lived out his days peacefully. In 2022, he was honored with the Peace Medal for Animals, earning a place in the Guinness Book of Records. His legacy of courage and loyalty is said to endure in Washington.
