Around 380,000 homes and buildings in Ontario are without power following a heavy ice storm over the weekend. The outages are mainly concentrated in central and eastern Ontario.

Impact of the Ice Storm

  • Thick ice caused trees and branches to fall on houses and power lines.

Recovery Efforts

  • Restoration teams are working in the hardest-hit areas, with additional teams from less affected regions called in to assist.

Emergency Measures

  • Peterborough declared a state of emergency, opening four shelters, two with overnight accommodations.
  • Oro-Medonte also declared a state of emergency due to increasing storm consequences.
