Hundreds of officers back to work in Brazil

vitoria - Nearly nine hundred police officers in the Brazilian state of Espirito Santo on Sunday after a strike of more than a week went back to work. They responded to a call from Defense Minister Raul Jungmann, who argued that the strikers actually sided with violent criminals.

The officers put eight days ago down the job because they are too low their salaries. It was then looted, closed institutions and retail doors increased sixfold and the number of murders. The government sent thousands of soldiers forced the state to maintain order.

Some 10 000 officers are still on strike. The hundreds of colleagues who went to work, forced patrolled on foot. Because stations are blocked by relatives of the strikers, police cars can no longer pluck.
