baltimore - A video showing how an American woman in hospital clothes is put out on the streets in the freezing cold arouses anger in the US. The video was posted online by a passerby who helped the woman.
A passerby saw how the hospital patient was taken to a bus stop in a wheelchair, only to stay behind alone. He tried to show the employees how degrading the action was, but was ignored. 'So you just let this woman out without clothes? While it is freezing? ', The man asked, who then cared for the woman.
'It is now freezing here. Are you okay? Can not you talk? Is it going? ', Says the passer-by. 'Madam, shall I call the police?' In the end, he called the police himself. This ensured that the woman was still admitted by the hospital.
The University of Maryland Medical Center, the hospital in question, says to investigate the incident. A spokesman has stated that he is shocked by the images and says he has failed in the treatment of the patient.
Yet it happens more often in the United States that patients are refused. There is even a name for: patient dumping. People who are put on the streets are often not insured and have insufficient financial resources for treatment in the hospital.
