Following a football match in Udine, Italy, hooligans attacked a train carrying supporters of a rival club from Venice. Eleven individuals, including some seriously injured, were reported by local media. The police promptly arrested eight perpetrators, including foreigners.
Venice supporters, escorted by police due to prior violent clashes between ultras of both clubs, were seated in the rear three train cars. The train, bound for Venice nearly 100 kilometers away, came to a halt at Basiliano station, near Udine, after encountering flares and smoke bombs on the tracks. Emergency brakes were activated at Basiliano, where dozens of hooligans assaulted the train with sticks, stones, and fireworks, attempting to break in through the doors and smashing windows.
The Udinese Calcio vs. Venezia FC match ended in a 3-2 victory for the home team in Udine.
