Hockney now most expensive 'alive' with work of 79.8 million

new york - The Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures) by David Hockney raised 79.8 million euros at an auction at Christie's in New York. It is a record amount for a work by a still living artist. The artwork was estimated in advance at more than 70 million euros.
The 1972 work by the 81-year-old British artist is one of his most famous paintings. On the canvas a man in a pink jacket is shown looking at another figure swimming under water in a swimming pool. Who the buyer is, the auction house has not disclosed.
