HDR buzzword at CES

- Not high pixel density (4K) but High Dynamic Range (HDR) is central at CES, the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Wednesday opened its gates. Television still plays an important role on this show. All major TV manufacturers put in the 'image enhancement' HDR.


         A greater contrast between light and dark passages makes the image more vivid. Colors are displayed more accurately, that is to say more as it is intended by the studio.
LG announces a new series of Ultra HD TVs with LCD screens IPS type, ready for images in HDR. The South Korean manufacturer claims the contrast to have substantially increased. Previously it was only possible on expensive plasma televisions 'black' also get true black. But now it can also LCD screens.
A number of new models, including the 65 inch and 86 inch UH9550 UH9500 include what LG calls HDR Plus. Apart from intense black levels according to LG, there is more depth, by separating objects from their background.
To take full advantage of HDR imagery must be made according to this technique. Netflix and Amazon are planning to go into HDR video streaming. LG has in its television sit a technique conventional imagery software upgrade to HDR. Further, LG introduces the first consumer version of its 98-inch 8K Ultra HD TV.
