- Hamas announces the release of 4 Israeli hostages as part of a ceasefire agreement, while 200 Palestinian prisoners will be freed in return.

Hamas to Release 4 More Hostages

Hamas has revealed that 4 Israeli hostages will be freed as part of the ceasefire agreement with Israel, in exchange for the release of 200 Palestinian prisoners. The first stage of the ceasefire agreement, which came into effect last Sunday, is ongoing.

Second Stage

Hamas official Tahir el-Nunu stated that on Saturday, 4 Israeli women will be released in exchange for the second group of Palestinian detainees. Meanwhile, Nahid el-Fahuri, another Hamas official, mentioned that the second phase of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement will commence on January 25th.

A total of 50 Palestinian detainees serving life sentences will be released for every Israeli soldier, and additional details regarding the prisoner swap will be finalized by both sides before the exchange on Sunday, January 26th.

If the number of Israeli female soldiers decreases, there will be a corresponding decrease in the number of Palestinian detainees released. Some prisoners may also have the option to go to Egypt upon release.
