gaza city, gaza strip - Hamas officials reject the US ceasefire proposal in Gaza as it fails to meet the organization's demands, while Israel reportedly agrees to the terms.
Hamas Rejects Ceasefire Proposal in Gaza Strip
A Hamas official has stated that the American ceasefire proposal in the Gaza Strip does not meet the organization's requirements, leading to a disagreement over the terms of the truce.
Israeli Acceptance and Terms
Israel has reportedly accepted the proposal, which includes a 60-day ceasefire period. Hamas would be expected to release ten hostages in two phases within a week and hand over the bodies of eighteen deceased hostages. In return, Israel would release 125 Palestinians serving life sentences and 1111 Gaza residents arrested after the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.
Negotiation Process
The ceasefire period would involve discussions on potentially ending the conflict. If an agreement is reached, the remaining hostages would also be released.
