Diageo Increases Guinness Production to Meet Demand
Despite a decrease in beer consumption, the demand for Guinness has surged, leading to a 13% increase in sales in the second half of last year. British pubs had to ration beer during the Christmas period as the brewery tapped into emergency reserves to meet the demand.
"We are working around the clock to replenish our stocks and are increasing them rapidly," said Debra Crew, CEO of Diageo. The company is also investing 200 million euros in a new Guinness factory in Kildare, Ireland.
The production of Irish beer Guinness is being ramped up following shortages in British pubs during the recent holiday season, as reported by PA news agency citing British beverage manufacturer Diageo.
