Manchester City's manager, Pep Guardiola, has dismissed speculations that the club's significant spending in the January transfer window was driven by fears of a potential transfer embargo.

The club made notable signings, including Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis, and Nico Gonzalez, totaling £175 million, surpassing other Premier League teams in spending during the window.

Guardiola attributed the January recruitment drive to the team's injury issues in the first half of the season, emphasizing that City's net spend in the last five years has been the lowest among the top six clubs.

The ongoing hearing regarding City's alleged breach of Premier League financial regulations is expected to conclude soon, with potential penalties ranging from fines to points deductions.

Guardiola expressed confidence that a verdict will be reached within a month, maintaining his stance that the club's actions were not solely motivated by financial prowess.

Furthermore, Guardiola announced that midfielder Rodri is not expected to return until next season, despite being included in City's Champions League squad for the knock-out stages.
