Greece Hires Lobbyist to Approach Trump

Greece has recently signed an agreement with the influential lobbying and communication firm Barbour, Griffith & Rogers (BGR) in an attempt to establish closer ties with US President Donald Trump. The move comes as Greece seeks support following a series of events such as the Republicans winning the November 5th presidential elections in the US, President Trump's praise for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and the former US Senator Bob Menendez being sentenced to 11 years in prison for bribery and corruption.

According to Kathimerini newspaper, BGR, which has a significant presence in both the White House and Congress, has a track record of success in representing foreign countries. The report also mentioned that the Greek Cypriot Administration is also exploring options to collaborate with the same firm. Meanwhile, France's possible sale of Meteor missiles to Turkey continues to raise concerns in Greece.

Congressman Elected as President of Greek Parliament

In a recent vote in the Greek Parliament to determine the successor of President Katerina Sakelaropulu, who will complete her term in March, Konstantinos Tasulas was elected as the new President of Greece with a majority vote. Tasulas, representing the conservative right-wing faction of the ruling ND party, is expected to maintain a 'traditional nationalist Greek policy' regarding Turkey and Cyprus relations.
