paris - Gisèle Pelicot shares her thoughts during the trial of her rape case and criticizes the suspects' excuses in a new phase of the trial.

Gisèle Pelicot, the victim of a rape case, gave a powerful statement during the trial, stating that she is tired of the excuses of the suspects and calling the process a cowardly one. She criticized the suspects' claims of being under medication or not understanding what was happening. Pelicot questioned why, upon entering a room and seeing an inert body, the suspects did not immediately leave or report the incident to the police.

She emphasized the need for societal change regarding how rape is viewed and urged for a shift away from a macho and patriarchal mindset that trivializes such crimes. Pelicot expressed her exhaustion with the hearings and denounced the behavior of the suspects in the case.

During the trial, various defense lawyers questioned Pelicot's relationship with her ex-husband and her stance on the suspects. Pelicot remained composed throughout, firmly stating that she believes all the suspects are guilty and that they committed the same crime of raping an unconscious woman without consent.
