hilversum - The national action day for Giro555 has started at the Institute for Sound & Vision in Hilversum. Two students, one Jewish and one Palestinian, opened the Giro555 action center in the media museum.

The national action day for Giro555 started at 05:55 at the Institute for Sound & Vision in Hilversum. Two students, Noa and Selma, opened the action center. The joint fundraising account for cooperating aid organizations has received nearly 4.4 million euros (4,372,890.50 euros) for 'all victims of the escalating violence in the Middle East.'

The two students, Noa and Selma, announced the interim result at 05:55 at the Institute for Sound & Vision. 'Their message of solidarity resonates throughout the country. The Netherlands sends a powerful signal that this action is about the millions of people who are homeless, injured, or starving due to the violence. And not about opinions,' said Harm Goossens, the chairman of the Giro555 action, from Hilversum.

This is the 49th time that the Cooperating Aid Organizations are raising funds through Giro555. The organizations aim to raise money for people in Lebanon, Gaza, the West Bank, Israel, and Syria. The previous Giro555 action was for the earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria in February 2023. It raised over 128 million euros in the end. An appeal for Ukraine in 2022 raised 184 million euros.

On Wednesday, donations can be made by calling the phone number 0800-1112.
