negros occidental, philippines - A 35-meter-high rooster-shaped building on an island in the Philippines has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the largest in the world. Visitors can even stay overnight in this unique structure.

The rooster building, consisting of six floors and fifteen rooms, stands nearly 35 meters tall and twelve meters wide. It was designed without windows to preserve the rooster's feathers. Guinness World Records officially acknowledged the building as the world's largest rooster-shaped structure on September 8.

Situated in the hills of Negros Occidental, Philippines, at the Campuestohan Highland Resort, the architect of the building, 70-year-old Ricardo Cano Gwapo Tan, aimed to leave a 'legacy' with this creation. 'In my heart, I am still a big child,' Tan told CNN. The resort served as his playground to create something with a 'wow-factor'.

Tan's decision to build a giant rooster was intentional. Cockfighting, known as 'sabong,' is immensely popular in the Philippines. Spectators cheer on the fighting roosters until one dies, generating millions of dollars. 'The cockfighting industry is a billion-dollar empire in our province,' Tan stated, emphasizing the rooster as an 'iconic structure that represents legacy, pride, and honor'.

A room for four at the rooster hotel costs about 75 euros, while larger groups of up to seven people pay around 110 euros. The owner reported that the rooster is fully booked until the end of January 2025, indicating high demand for this unique accommodation experience.
