germany - German government official Ferda Ataman urges the government to withdraw from the controversial X platform owned by Elon Musk, citing concerns over political influence.

German Federal Government's Commissioner for Combatting Discrimination, Ferda Ataman, has called on the German government to withdraw from the X social media platform, formerly known as Twitter, due to Elon Musk's interventions in European politics. Ataman expressed concerns over Musk's support for the far-right party AfD in Germany and his disrespectful comments towards the German Chancellor and President on the platform. Ataman emphasized that the government's presence on X platform adds value to a platform that has been turned into a political tool by the world's richest man.

Ataman stated that X is no longer a reliable platform and highlighted the necessity for the government to take a stand by leaving the platform, despite the difficulties associated with such a move. Elon Musk is set to interview Alice Weidel, the leader of the Alternative Party for Germany (AfD), known for its far-right and anti-Islam stance, on the X platform. Musk's interactions with Weidel have sparked controversy, especially considering his upcoming role in the Trump administration starting on January 20th.

Rolf Mützenich, the Parliamentary Group Leader of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), has called for clarification on whether Musk's views align with the US government's views after January 20th. The EU Commission has stated that the live broadcast between Weidel and Musk does not violate the EU's Digital Service regulations.
