German city test alcohol ban in downtown

World May 8, 2017 20:45

duisburg - In the German city of Duisburg, from next week, a ban on alcohol for certain streets and squares in the city center will apply. The city wants to make the center of Duisburg more attractive.

The ban applies in the first instance for half a year, so the city council decided on Monday. Only restaurants are out of order.

The sense of security of customers, visitors and retailers is being widely tested by alcohol users, says the municipality. Passers-byers and residents regularly complain about property damage, violence or open-minded urination and surrender by drunkards. Also in some other German cities such as Bonn and Herne is an alcohol ban in certain areas.
