germany - German Chancellor Olaf Scholz indirectly targeted American entrepreneur Elon Musk for praising the Alternative Party for Germany (AfD) on social media platform X.

In his traditional New Year's speech, Chancellor Olaf Scholz emphasized that the future of Germany will be determined by the citizens, not the owners of social media platforms. He stated, "The ones determining the future of Germany will not be those who shout the loudest, but the majority of rational and decent people." Scholz also urged the public to vote in the upcoming federal elections on February 23, highlighting the importance of free and secret elections as a great success.

Addressing the security flaws in Magdeburg's Christmas market attack, Scholz mentioned the rapid spread of false rumors and speculations on the internet and social media. He assured that any security lapses would be investigated and rectified, emphasizing that baseless rumors only serve to divide and weaken the country.

Scholz acknowledged the challenges faced by Germany, including economic strains and rising costs of living. He also expressed solidarity with Ukraine amid growing concerns over Russia's aggressive actions, pledging continued support to prevent the spread of war.
