- Leidschendam-Voorburg is the first municipality to use a robot to further improve service to visitors. In a five-month pilot, programmers and the municipality will investigate and improve contact between visitors and robotics.
The arrival of this robot in Leidschendam-Voorburg is not new. At the end of last year, employees and residents were already able to meet Elvie Pepper. The reactions were then very positive. 'Technical developments follow each other quickly. As an innovative municipality we want to be, we follow developments that are applicable in the public sector. Now we are going a step further by investigating whether the robot can provide added value in daily service to our residents, 'said Lia de Ridder, deputy governor.
The robot begins to welcome the training with visitors and point the way. The interaction between the robot and visitors is measured by asking feedback to visitors and interviews with employees. Based on this information, the robot is continuously improved and developed over the five months.
