Galatasaray Keeping Tabs on Ilkay Gündogan

Galatasaray is closely monitoring Ilkay Gündogan's status at Manchester City and is willing to make a move for the midfielder if he becomes free this summer. Gündogan, 34, is currently with City for the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

Possible Move to Istanbul

Sources reveal that Galatasaray's leadership believes Gündogan would prefer a transfer to Istanbul if the opportunity arises. The Turkish club is also interested in re-signing Sacha Boey from Bayern Munich.

Gündogan's Career and Future

The former Germany international, who captained City during their 2023 treble win, has not been part of the recent leadership group at the club. Despite turning 35 soon, Gündogan emphasizes the importance of experienced players in top teams.

Gündogan stated, 'You need experienced players on the pitch. All young players need some experience around them. Sometimes you don't have to work harder but work smarter.'
