whistler - The United States still have a few days to prevent a trade war with their allies. That said the French minister Bruno Le Maire (Finance) after a meeting of ministers from the seven largest industrialized countries, the G7, in Canada.
'We still have a few days to take the necessary steps to prevent a trade war between the EU and the US, and to prevent a trade war between G7 members,' Le Maire told reporters. He said it is up to the American government to de-escalate the conflict over import duties.
Ministers tapped the US in a final statement. The American minister Steven Mnuchin (Finance) was asked to convey the 'unanimously shared concerns and disappointment' of the countries. Le Maire spoke about a 'tense and heavy' meeting. 'I would say that it was more a G6 plus 1 than a G7. '
