In response to a tragic incident where a cat named Neko was fatally run over by a train due to escaping its carrier, French trains can now experience up to a 20-minute delay if a passenger loses a pet.
New Protocol by SNCF
SNCF has introduced an official protocol for such situations, giving train staff ten minutes to locate a missing pet and an additional ten minutes to safely remove it from the tracks if spotted.
If unsuccessful, the train may depart at a significantly reduced speed.
