france - The French Socialist Party (PS) has expressed its willingness to engage in talks with the presidential camp and the right to form a new government based on mutual concessions.

The first secretary of the socialist party, Olivier Faure, stated that the new government would have a 'contract of a certain duration'.

President Macron is meeting with several political leaders on Friday to discuss the formation of a government of national unity, including the PS, the right, and members of his own party.

Notably absent from the discussions are the Rassemblement national (RN), La France insoumise (LFI), the Greens, and the Communists, leading to speculation of an attempt to weaken the leftist alliance of the Nouveau Front populaire (NFP).

Macron has announced his intention to appoint a new prime minister in the coming days to form a government of national unity that represents all political forces or commits not to vote them out.

A new prime minister is not expected to be announced over the weekend or even on Monday, indicating that more time will be needed to assemble a new team.
