- A lying wedding guest who made up a whole story about how he got sick for weeks due to food and drinks in a Mexican resort, has been fined. He has to pay 10,000 pounds to tour operator TUI.

The 34-year-old Jadeep Singh from the British town of Salford seemed to have a great time, based on the cheerful selfies he posted during his stay in the Mexican resort at the beach in Cancun. But afterwards the holiday turned out to be a nightmare- at least: that was what the travel agency TUI had to believe. Singh claimed to have become so ill, that after weeks of struggling with health problems, he filed a complaint.

Although no one else told TUI to become ill, Singh claimed that he was not the only one. Twelve others also reported food poisoning.

All in all, TUI thought it was a rather unbelievable story. They decided against the allegations of the complaining wedding guest. With success: in the British court the organization got the same. The man must pay a fine of at least £ 10,000 a year and additional costs for May next year.

A CEO of TUI speaks of a victory in the fight against holiday fraud.
