Former Proud Boys Leader Arrested at Capitol

Enrique Tarrio, former leader of the far-right organization, was arrested at the Capitol in Washington after an altercation. Tarrio was at the Capitol for a press conference where he and other Proud Boys members announced their intention to sue the U.S. Department of Justice. Simultaneously, there were protesters present. After the press conference, a woman held a phone to Tarrio's face, to which he reacted by making a striking motion that hit the device and the woman, according to the police. Tarrio was then arrested. The former leader had been sentenced to 22 years in prison in November 2023 for his involvement in the Capitol riot. Tarrio had been granted clemency by President Donald Trump and was subsequently released.
