Pakistani Court Sentences Imran Khan to 14 Years in Prison

A Pakistani court has reached a verdict in a corruption case involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Khan and his wife were found guilty of selling state-owned gifts worth over 190 million pounds. Khan received a 14-year prison sentence, while his wife was sentenced to 7 years. In addition to the prison terms, Imran Khan was fined 1 million rupees and his wife, 500,000 rupees. Failure to pay the fines would result in additional time in prison. Following the announcement of the verdict, Khan's wife was taken into custody.

Multiple Pending Cases

Prior to his imprisonment in August 2023, Imran Khan, who served as Prime Minister until April 2022, faced multiple corruption charges. He was previously sentenced to 3 years in prison for selling state-owned gifts and later received a 10-year sentence for disclosing state secrets. Despite being acquitted in one case, Khan still faces over 150 pending legal charges.
